Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother & Friend. Steve died peacefully surrounded by his family.
Steve is predeceased by his Parents, Edgar J. Brooks and Louise (Gefell) and his brother-in-law John Cappello. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Eileen C. Brooks, his children April VanGelder (Bill Donofrio) and Adam Brooks. His two grandchildren, Abigail VanGelder and Nicholas VanGelder. His siblings, Barbara Cappello, William (Marie) Brooks, and Douglas (Eileen) Brooks. Several dear nieces, nephews and close friends. Steve also leaves behind his beloved Havanese Dog, Lilly.
Steve served as a Sergeant in the Army, Military Police serving in Germany for 4 years. He returned after his service to work at Eastman Kodak Company for the next 35 years. Steve enjoyed fishing, he was an avid bowler and he loved spending time with family and friends.
Due to current circumstances we will only be having a private immediate family service. We will at a later date have a celebration of Steve’s life with all his expanded family and friends that we will very much miss seeing at this time.
Steve was a lung cancer survivor. He received exceptional medical care throughout his illnesses. Donations may be made to Rochester General Hospital in memory of Stephen J. Rest In Peace Steve, I’m glad your cousin Ann and myself had the privilege of living next to you and Eileen this past year. You will be sadly missed. We will cherish our times with you and Eileen.
