Michael James Petrie
1981 – 2020
Rochester, NY: Michael was found passed away on October 6, 2020 at too young age of 39. Predeceased by his mother Patricia Petrie, grandfather Gerald May and uncle Larry May. Survived by his sisters Kim, Deb, Jen and Colleen; grandmother Rhoda May; aunts and uncles Kathy & Marvin Burgie, Rhoda Hutchison, Marion & Gary Wille, Jerry May, Aggie Page; numerous cousins, and other family members.
Michael was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. May his soul finally rest in peace and his memory remind all of us to lean-in with Grace first toward ourselves and each other. “In God’s garden of Grace, even a broken tree can bear fruit”.
Due to COVID-19, Michael will be laid to rest in a private service and interment following, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Anyone wishing may make a donation to Mental Health America (MHA) in honor of Michael.
Dear Jen, Deb, Kim and Colleen, What a shock for all of us! We have lost the first of our nieces and nephews way too soon. Mike was loved immensely. We will treasure the memories of good times we had with our Godson in our hearts. May God’s grace and love bring peace to Mike’s heart and soul as he is welcomed into his Kingdom where his loved ones who have gone before him will greet him with open arms! I was proud of Michael’s accomplishments. He was discharged from Hill Haven Nursing Home after much time in Rehab. He lost over 200 pounds. He completed his PT without hesitation. He never once complained to me about being there. He never once felt sorry for himself. He got a job. He looked forward to putting his life together and did so step by step and was thankful.
He loved building model cars. He taught me about the many aspects of Nascar. He also taught me about muscle cars and as the result, I love looking at the muscle cars being auctioned on Mecum. I hope to someday own one! He loved to go fishing and playing golf He had a level of forgiveness I have never known and held nothing against anyone no matter how deserving.
God Bless our cousin Michael who now rests in a peaceful place.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel. I worked with Mike at Concentrix. He was great at making the team laugh, especially in times off stress. I remember him making up songs to get me to smile. The world has lost a very special person and gentle soul.

I always remembered you to have a unique and kind personality. I remember our fun times in high school, which led to our adult conversations… somehow keeping in touch. May god be with you and your family during this time.

I just saw that you had passed in 2020. I was so sad to see that after such a long rehab and so many accomplishments toward getting better, your life was taken so young. I was so happy to have gotten to know you and to have you work for the elections as an inspector and chair person. Your smile was contagious and all who knew you became friends. My condolences to all of your sisters Mike. You were such a sweet man. May you rest in heaven at peace. Take care Mike.
