Michael W. (Mike) Suozzi (Hodgetts) passed away on November 26, 2020 at his home in Rochester, NY. Mike is predeceased by his parents James and Wanda Suozzi of Batavia, NY and was born on February 8, 1951. He graduated from Batavia High School in 1969. He went on to work at Doehler-Jarvis in Batavia. In 1975, he went to work at Eastman Kodak, Rochester. Later becoming an Automated Equipment Mechanic where we met in 1995. We were married in October 2011. He was respected by many co-workers who will have fond memories of him. After leaving Kodak, he completed a truck driving course which had always been a special interest of his.
Mike was a caring, generous and intelligent man who loved creating cherished memories with those he loved. Among his many interests was a passion for trucks, planes, trains, tractors, building from model kits, flea markets, collecting souvenirs and planting his vegetable garden. He attended steam shows, rebuilt hit and miss engines and even fixed broken antique toys. He loved listening to music while enjoying his hobbies. He had a special interest in history enjoying historical documentaries and Classic TV. He was not a member of the armed forces. He had a great deal of respect and admiration for those who have served and son-in-law Commander Sargent Major Michael Gainey, a decorated war hero being awarded the Bronze Star with Valor.
Mike`s sense of humor was enjoyed by his family and friends. He often enjoyed spicy foods and drinking wine and beer with close, considerate friends. He loved all holidays, especially July 4th and Halloween. Decorating at Christmas gave him much joy. He cared about all animals including squirrels, outdoor cats, deer and all wildlife.
He would often travel and looked forward to an Amtrak train trip with a large group during the Christmas season. In warm weather, which he loved, he would visit family in North Carolina.
Mike is survived by his wife Joan Hodgetts and his beloved cats, Rosey and Magic. He is also survived by his daughters Samantha Ohlson, Michele Suozzi, Anne-Marie Gainey and son-in law Police Lieutenant Michael Gainey in Mint Hill, NC and Sara Suozzi, all of North Carolina and his 11 grandchildren. Other survivors include nephew Jimmy Suozzi in Batavia, NY and niece Gloria Noble in Florida. He was predeceased by his brother Peter James Suozzi of Bethany, NY in 2005.
A special thank you to Michele Suozzi and his granddaughter Zoe Suozzi for their gentle care, respect and generosity to both us when we needed you most. You both helped him be brave through the pain. Also thank you to our friends and the Hodgetts family for their support and love.

Sam and I are so sorry to know of our dear brother-in-laws passing. He was a kind and gentle soul and he will be terribly missed. Our favorite memories of Mike center around our Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations together. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved being around people who made him laugh. Every year, he had to help me open a bottle of wine using my battery operated opener. I never could get it right and I still can`t open a bottle of wine without thinking of him with a smile. After having two coffee pot disasters while him and Joan were dining at home with us, he advised that we get a Keurig. He loved his and highly recommended us getting one. Being the thoughtful guy he was, wouldn`t you know that him and Joan surprised us with one at Christmas! But that was Mike, considerate and kind. So wherever you are, Mike, may you rest in peace knowing that were greatly loved.
