Fairport, NY: On Saturday, December 19, 2020, Heaven welcomed a very special Angel as Lloyd (Smitty) Smith passed peacefully from the earth. At the age of 94 Lloyd was a husband, father, Pau Pau, and a WWII Veteran.
Smitty was born on May 24, 1926. One of 7 children, he was born in his home in Arcadia where he grew up. A humble veteran, Smitty served in the Army during WWII and returned home where he owned a farm and eventually went to work as a mechanic at the American Can Company. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and over the last several years found joy in his 5 bowling leagues and the yearly road trip tournament with his teammates. He was a simple loving hard-working man who gave all of himself to those he loved. He will be remembered for the love and support he gave to his family; his humble simplistic personality, a steak and potatoes kind of guy; and his sense of humor, which he kept until the end. He will be greatly missed.
Smitty is survived by his wife of 45 years, Tommye Lee Smith; daughter and son-in-law Kim and Matt Cozza; daughter and son-in-law Renee and Phil Yandow; daughter-n-law Tracy Stump, daughter and son-in-law Jean and George Rouse; daughter and son-in-law Joni and Jack Hicks; and son Jim Smith; grandchildren include Michael Madigan and Sydney Cozza; Madison Yandow; Chris and Paige Stump; Stephen Rouse and Gordon (Stephanie) Rouse, Justin Miller; Samantha Smith; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Smitty was preceded in death by his 7 siblings; his son Robert L Stump; and his grandson Peter Smith.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in the name of Lloyd Smith to
Soldiers’ Angels, 2895 NE Loop 410, Suite 107, San Antonio, TX 78218
I had the pleasure to bowl on Tuesday afternoons with Lloyd. He always had a smile and I loved his since of humor. Even though I subbed for this league he always welcomed me as a friend. May he rest in peace now that he is with his Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you all.
I knew Lloyd through our Tuesday bowling league. I enjoyed his competitive spirit, his humble demeanor and his love of life. His presence will be missed. May he rest in peace and may he bowl a perfect 300 game. God bless his family and friends.
I also bowled with Lloyd. He and his team were a favorite. He loved to bowl and always offered praise to others. I am sad. Thinking of him and his family.
Lloyd was a well loved bowler in the Friday Night Early Bird league. I had nicknamed him as “THE HOUSE PRO”! He was a humble competitor and nicest guy! He will be dearly missed.
Everyone in our Friday night league enjoyed bowling against Lloyd. He always had fun no matter how he was bowling (which was usually quite well), and loved to travel to the State tournament every year. We miss him terribly.
