Rochester, NY: March 28, 2021 at Age 96
James is predeceased by his beloved wife Marion. He is survived by sons: Michael (David Merritt), Craig (Angela); Mark (Terry); Jim (Sharon) and by his daughter Wendy (Chris) Pettine. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jim had a long career in Rochester with ITEK Corp. (formerly Photostat Co.). After retiring he found the musical stage; singing and dancing with many Rochester performing arts groups that put on fundraising shows for local schools and organizations. He lived his last 10 years at The Villages at Unity where he was a beloved member of the chorus. Jim had a life-long love of singing, was a skilled artist, and a trained drum player.
Jim was a proud Army veteran, having served his country with distinction during World War II. He was a member of Merrill’s Marauders, who were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and also the Congressional Gold Medal. In addition, Jim was a recipient of the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

A “Celebration of life” Inurnment, Thursday, July 22nd at 10 am, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Lake Avenue Entrance,St Francis Columbarium. Alternate calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 22nd 6-8pm at Thomas Grasso Lodge, Greece Canal Park.

We will miss Jim dearly and the thought of him will surely bring a smile. He was a talented, humble and wonderful man.

There wasn’t a day during my time working at the Village at Unity when you weren’t there for your father. I will definitely miss seeing you walking thru the door every night.

I consider it a blessing to have been able to visit with and help Dad so much. I know he enjoyed living there, especially the music and art programs. He absolutely loved singing with the chorus!
Pat, I hope we see you as part of the Honor Guard if possible! He was so very proud of his military service, as you know.

Hi Mrs Wendy, I am so sorry for you guys loss. My supervisor actually just told me the other day. Every week I was asking about him and wanted to know how he was doing. When I got the news I googled his name because I wanted to pay my respects to Mr James. He was such a great person and so funny. Although I’ve only known Mr. James for a few months I am so grateful to have crossed paths with him. He was truly indeed a angel on earth. ❤️ God bless!

Thank you for your very kind words. I sent a card to HCR, hoping they would share it with you all. You are actually the Angels on Earth, and we are so appreciative for all the loving care you provided our Dad. I always felt at Peace when you were working, knowing Dad was in the best of hands.
