Rochester, NY: Kate’s final curtain came April 13, 2021. Her love of the theater brought her a family of friends throughout her short life. She loved reading, acting, singing, traveling, children and animals.
Surviving Kate are her parents, Don and Barb, and her brother Matthew, many dear friends.
No calling hours or service will be held. A party, at her request, will be held at a date to be determined. Donations to your favorite organization, or Cancer Society in her name will appreciated.
My heart goes out to the family of this bright shining star – such a talented young woman who I enjoyed watching as she took over any stage. It is an unimaginable loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences in this impossibly difficult time.
Sweetest, cleverest most darling Kate. Our little marshmallow, and our Shambolite sister. I know over the last twelve years we often felt so far away from each other and our fellow Shambolsisters Katrina and Melisande, but never have I felt more far away than I do now. I so wish I could fly from NZ to Rochester to be with you and your family, but this will have to suffice…. You are so talented, more so than you ever knew. Nobody could write like you! I hope that Amy and Heath were ready and waiting to take you onto a cloud so you can keep looking down on us and continue being the linchpin of our wee online family. There is so much to say and no time to say it. I love you, always did. There is no soul kinder, no nicknames funnier, no hug warmer than yours. Love always, the twino Ivy to your Harley Quinn.
Shambolites now and forever
Hayley
That’s us! Ugh I hurt, this is a beautiful missive. and I want us all to hug so bad!
I first met Kate while attending MCC over 20 years ago. We sat in the back of a Shakespeare class and chatted every chance we got. I would later go on to perform Shakespeare locally where I reconnected with Kate who had done the same. During her time performing in Shakespeare’s King Lear she would work backstage in the first full length production I ever wrote. When I started a family she watched after my oldest son Wyatt while I was working odd jobs. I always saw her as a confident, energetic, and lovely person and am so happy that she was a part of my life and the lives of my friends.
I cannot.
This is a great photo. So much of her in that knowing smirk. I love her and I miss her and I won’t ever stop missing her.
The Very Best “Santa Baby” Interpreter ever. EVER, EVER, EVER. Also knew Kate, just a bit, at MCC. Wonderful soul and so talented and sweet and bright. Very sad for all who got to know her a lot better than I did and of course truly sad for her family.
Kate was a wonderful, talented, hilarious young woman with a huge heart and a quick, loving smile. I had the joy of costuming her in several Shakespeare plays….I still smile when I remember how she joked that her character was going to “single-handedly” bring back wearing 80’s style colorful gloves (we had a different pair for each act!). She was easy to love in so many ways and will be missed. RIP dear Kate!
