Rochester, NY: Janice Lynne “Jan” Wemett, age 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Jan was born on June 16, 1941, in Rochester, NY, to Howard and Irene (Aab) Hutchins. She is predeceased by her husband John William “Bill” Wemett whom she married on May 26, 1962. Together they had four children: Steve (Kerri) Wemett, Jim Wemett, Debbie (Jim) Garnham, and Beth Wemett; and three grandchildren, Josh (Maggie) Wemett, Sam (Sarah) Wemett, and Colin Garnham. Jan is survived by one sister, Dea (Don) Moffitt, and sisters-in-law, Ann Wemett, Dottie Wemett, and predeceased by sister-in-law Pat Bulger. Jan is also survived by many nieces and nephew: David (Heather) Moffitt, Deborah (Aaron) Torp, Marie Wemett, Robin Stewart, Tracy (Cory Potter) Wemett, and several grand nieces and nephews.
Jan loved her Lord and Savior above all things, but loved her family and friends dearly as well. She enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her family, mission work in Hungary and Germany, but truly lost her heart in South Africa. Jan was beloved by so many across the globe and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on July 10th at 2:00pm at Webster Bible Church, 675 Holt Road, Webster, NY 14580. To the family of Janice, It was a great pleasure to see Jan in 2019 at the JMHS 60th reunion. Jan and I had gone to school from kindergarten thru high school. Such a loss to her friends and family. Thanks Jan for your friendship.
Good-bye my friend. I miss your smile, hugs, and your delight in the story of Korah’s rebellion. In it, not all of Korah’s family died, relatives lived on and sung of God’s goodness to all the generations. Psalms 45. “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. Love, prayers, and strength to Jan’s family.
We send our condolences to family and friends over the passing of Jan. Separation in this life does bring with it a measure of sadness and loss for those left behind. But we don’t grieve as those who have no hope. Jesus, who is our highest hope, has given to His own an eternal bliss that shall never be taken away. In that we rejoice. Jan has passed from this life but she has been ushered into a far better one and one day the rest of us, who rest in Christ, shall share in that happy home coming. May that bright and eternal promise be the foundation upon which you stand.
