John Thomas Ambrosi (“JT”) passed away on April 25, 2022 at age 59. He is survived by his son, John William “Jack” Ambrosi, parents John and Ann Ambrosi, sisters Beth, Kelly, Marc (Heather), Maria (Tim McNamara), niece Marley Wolgast, nephew Kevin Wolgast, and cousins Marc (Andrea), Stephen (Tracy), Steve, and AJ Demeo.
JT attended Penfield High School and the University of Rochester (BA, MS) where he studied history and public policy analysis. He served as a Captain in the Marine Corps during the Gulf War. Back in Rochester, JT worked in telecommunications, primarily at PaeTec Corporation. He loved listening to music, reading non-fiction, yardwork, a great storm and a debate over almost anything. JT’s autobiography, Route 15 to Gettysburg, can be found on Amazon.com.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Louis Church, Pittsford, New York at 9am on Saturday, April 30th, 2022. Internment at Bath, VA Cemetery, with military honors, will happen over the summer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jack Ambrosi’s New York State 529 College Savings Program fund (www.ugift529.com account code 364-27K).
His gregarious nature, charming smile, quick wit and words of wisdom will be dearly missed. I will forever remember his loyalty and friendship. We love you JT

A mentor.

An amazing man.
You will leave a hole in the fabric of our world.
Semper Fi.
Until Valhalla.
To the family … our deepest sympathies.
Please let us know of the plans for this summer.
Will plan to attend.
I am grateful for the time we had together. You will always be in our hearts.
Johnie Boy- I will miss you in ways I cannot yet fathom. Just now I am about 2/3 through ‘The British are Coming,’ a book you gave to me because, spontaneously, you thought I would like it. That is the kind of generous and loving guy you were. Not hust for friends, but for everyone. Of course, with you gone, I am gonna have to buy the next two parts of the trilogy on my own. I have to see who wins the war!
There is a picture of you and me and Mikey and Kieffer hanging on my wall. It has reminded me of good friends and good times for years and will continue to do so for years to come.
Love you, buddy. Semper fi!
JT – There are really know words, when we heard today our heart sank . You are one of a kind my friend, loyal, brave , funny and smart . You have left a giant hole in many hearts.
You are loved .
Oh JT,
We weren’t ready for you to go so soon. So grateful for the many years of friendship.
Godspeed dear friend.
Peace and love be with you always.
Shine brightly forever in God’s grace.
JT; Ine lasting memory will be walking through Reagan Airport with you in DC when walking g down a deserted corridor Fed Chair Alan Greenspan appeared escorted by SecretService agents. Undaunted you ignored his security detail, went right up to him and thrust out your hand and said; “Mr. Greenspan I think you’re doing a great job.” I thought for sure you’d get face planted by the agents but they only gently pushed you aside, somehow knowing you meant him no harm. Never forget it….or your passion in helping us at Paetec navigate the thorny regulatory wicket with clarity and purpose. You are a mensch. Rest easy., soldier.
My sympathies to your family JT – I know how much you loved your son & was so proud of him. Will miss our chats about the state of the Habs & where to roam in Montreal. Gone too soon.
JT – You are one of my favorite humans – I loved our impromptu discussions (heated and otherwise) – I loved your can-do spirit and attitude, always willing to fight for what was right – Most importantly I loved your smile, you always had a smile (and a chuckle :-). One of the best.
I’m so upset to learn of JT’s passing. Ever since paetec JT and I continued a friendship. We spoke at least once a month mostly during hockey season and text more often. He was so supportive over the past 2yrs after my Father passed and from everything my family went through. Being a Veteran, JT took it personally what happened with my dad and the 65 other Veterans who were killed at their VA. We just talked in March but not yet in April. I’m going to miss all of JT’s FB post about world history events and have learned a lot from him over the years. My heart breaks for his son Jack.
JT, You were one of my first PaeTec friends. I will never forget your kindness. I am heartbroken to know you are gone. God Bless your son, Jack and your family. May you Rest In Peace. 💔
Son John
Your mother and i are blessed to have had you in our family.
The last three years were difficult for both of us.
We were hoping you would overcome your problem.
It was not to be.
Our prayers now are that God has taken you and will give you peace.
God bless you John and may the angels be at your side.
Your Father

On my very first day in Mrs. Marston’s first grade class at Atlantic Avenue School in Penfield, I sat next to him and he let me borrow a pencil. John and I were buddies from that point thru twelfth grade. He was a funny, smart and loyal friend. Sadly, we lost track of each other over the years. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
To the family and friends of JT,
I am so very sorry to have heard of the passing of such a gentleman. JT was quick witted, intelligent, funny , respectful , conscientious and the list of qualities he possesses could go on and on . I hope the happy memories you all have will help carry you through the hard days . Prayers especially for his son , that was his pride and joy . Rest easy JT
My sympathies to the entire family especially Jack, JT was my brothers best friend from college but he was also a friend to our entire family. He was a good man who cared deeply and shouldn’t be defined by his demons he battled that cost him so much. He looked after my son throughout his years at RIT and even hosted my husband and myself when we dropped him off his very first day. I’m thankful for knowing him. Rest easy JT
I met JT when I was in college at RIT and my brother Mike was at U of R. JT was always such fun to be around and had my back as Mike’s little sister:-) He cared very deeply about my entire family. I was very sad to learn of his passing and pray that he is finally at rest. I will miss his kind and generous spirit, his educational Facebook posts and his laugh. Rest In Peace my friend❤️
I am greatly saddened by the news re: JT. Although it has been many years since we have spoken, JT left a lasting impression on me. I will think about this loss for a very long time.

I just recently learned of the passing of my friend, when I tried to send him happy birthday wishes. Although, we weren’t as close as we used to be I am forever grateful for giving me a love of sailing and Jimmy Buffet. You knew me in my youth and taught me so much about life. Love you.
