July 2, 2022, at the age of 82, Bennette Jackson is Predeceased by her sister, Bridget Watford; brothers Robert Barksdale and Ricky Barksdale. She is survived by daughters, Alicia Jackson & Sylvia Jackson; sons, David Barksdale & Sylvester Jackson Jr; sisters, Jolene Barksdale, Katherine Barksdale & Marylene Barksdale; brother, Bennie Barksdale; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; other loving family and friends.
Bennette Jackson was born in Warrenton Georgia to Bennie Barksdale Sr. and Jimmie’Mae Barksdale on May 10, 1940. In 1943 her family moved to Rochester, New York where she was raised by her grandmother Cora’Mae Chatman. She attended and graduated from Maddison High School. Bennette went on to work for General Motors (GM) where she retired from after 30 years of service.
Bennette was a family woman. After retirement she found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She would often get them together and take them out to enjoy dinner at one of her two favorite restaurants Pondarosa or Old Country Buffett. Throughout her lifetime Bennette nurtured many children in the family from children of her own, to nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family loves her dearly and she will be greatly missed.

I will forever cherish the many memories of this beautiful and wonderful woman. She was a great inspiration to me throughout my life. I have known Mrs Jackson from my infancy, and she has always been nurturing and encouraging. I am very grateful for the love she gave and examples she demonstrated. She was truly a strong, gracious expression of God’s grace and beauty. Her devotion to her children and family is a blessing and a testimony of the woman that she exhibit. My sincere condolences 🙏 to all that cherish her memories and especially to her beloved children David, Alicia, Sylvia and Sylvester Jr.
