At age 57 years old, Joann crossed the rainbow bridge suddenly on Monday, December 19th, 2022, in her Rochester home. She was rejoined with her wife Sara, her parent’s Harold and Adele Bettis, sisters Tina Glaum , Darlene (Mark) Sovie, brother in-law Larry Babb, and nephew Michael Church. Joann is survived by her Daughter Susan Meador (Mat Canida), two grandchildren Toni Canida and Dante Sopko, her sisters Evelyn Church (Steven) and Michelle Mourey, nieces, nephews, and many close friends, to whom she was incredibly dedicated to.
Joann was an avid advocate for those who needed help and were willing to put in the work to better themselves. She made significant impacts in the lives of those people she worked with. Joann loved baking, playing cards, camping, and taking photos, and being surrounded by friends and family. She believed in living life to the fullest while spreading as much positivity as she could.
A celebration of Joann’s life is being planned for the summer of 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the gofundme account currently set up by the family to help with the unexpected funeral costs. The gofundme link is https://gofund.me/840cb21c .
Happened to suddenly to such a sweet soul! Well we know that she is happy with her wife and other loved ones that it passed on before her, so this does make me happy as of her that will definitely miss my sister each and every day! Sorry for your loss Susan ,Mat, and family but we will be here to support you all!
I’m so sorry for your loss. I think that it’s a comfort to know that Joann didn’t suffer with a long and painful illness that would have taken her quality of life from her. After speaking with Clergy they reminded me that grieving is for the living and that Joann is reunited with those that we all love and miss so much and if We believe then We will be reunited with Joann ourselves someday. My sincerest thoughts and prayers are with you and I’d be happy to attend a memorial service in Joanns honor when the time comes (( hugs to all ))
She will always be loved and missed. She never failed to put a smile on someone else’s face even if she wasn’t having a good day herself. That’s who she was.
She cared for others deeply and had a huge heart. And that will always be remembered.
So sorry to hear of your loss.our condolences.
Joann will be missed by so many. She had a heart of gold. She helped so many people. I will miss her so much but I know she is at peace now with Sara, having good times up above. She wouldn’t want us to mourn her but to be happy and cherish what we had with her. Love to all!
