Edward L. Conklin, 57, of Rush, NY, passed away on February 1, 2023.
Ed was born on December 3, 1965; predeceased by his grandparents, Walter and Margaret Curry of Geneseo, NY and Herbert and Dorothy Conklin of Mt Morris, NY. He is survived by his loving wife Carrie (Wyffels) Conklin; parents Herbert and Margaret (Peggy Curry) Conklin; sister, Meg (Yossi) Gabay of Arizona; father-in-law, Gerald Wyffels; sisters in law, Miki (Geoff) Burnett and Becky Christensen; aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
As a boy, he was proud to work his way through the Boy Scouts ranks becoming an Eagle Scout. Ed attended Honeoye Falls-Lima High School where he played on the JV and Varsity soccer team.
During high school, he met his sweetheart, Carrie (Wyffels) Conklin, they were reunited in 2003 and wed in 2005. Ed is proud stepfather to Greg Wyffels.
Ed had a passion for history, especially the history of the surrounding areas, to include the Native American tribes that settled hundreds of years ago, the colonial era and the civil war. This love for history led to his lifelong hobby of arrowhead hunting, bottle digging, and metal detecting with his father. Ed and his wife, Carrie, belonged to Genesee Valley Treasure Seekers Club where Ed was voted President in January 2023. Ed and Carrie traveled to Northern NY and to NH for metal detecting events where he learned the best treasures found were not in the ground, but the friendships made along the way that would last a lifetime.
A Celebration of Life for Ed will be held at a later date.
