Lois Marie Nelmes, age 94 of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully Sunday morning February 26, 2023 after her long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Albert E. Nelmes of 54 years, her parents Leo and Helen Wurzer and her brother Leonard Wurzer.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Nelmes, her son Steven Nelmes, granddaughters Melissa Minck, Tammy Schulz-Allen (Christian), Amanda Haak (Matthew) and Melissa Distler (Scott), 7 great grandsons (Tyler, Jacob, Austin Malachi, Reece, Liam and Shane), 2 great granddaughters (Madison and Penelope), 3 great, great grandsons (Nolan, Jax and Grayson). She leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Lois lived in Greece, NY and spent her summers in Cape Vincent, NY. When Albert retired, they moved to Betmar Estates in Zephyrhills, Florida spending winters in Florida and Summers in Cape Vincent. She loved playing fun darts, loved arts and crafts and coffee hour with her friends. She was also the treasurer of the Betmar Organ Society.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Saturday March 4, 2023 at Morning Star Christian Fellowship Church, 485 Holmes Road, Rochester, NY 14626.
A private interment date will be determined at a later time.
