Irene Sabernick

Rochester, NY – With sadness, love, and profound gratitude, the family of Irene Sabernick, age 91, announces her passing on March 3, 2023.

Irene is predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Bernard “Bernie” Sabernick.  She is survived by her children, Bernard Sabernick II, SueAnn Callahan, and Lisa Cruz, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grand-children and loving family and friends.

Born to Florence and William Hopkins on February 18, 1932, Irene was a life-long resident of Rochester, graduating from John Marshall High School.  She was a valued employee of JC Penny where she served customers and employees alike, retiring in 1997.  Irene loved family gatherings, especially picnics in the back yard and camping with all the kids and grandkids at local campgrounds.  She, along with her partner Bernie, could Do Si Do and promenade with the best of them on the square dance floor.  And, she baked great pies…

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 8th from 9-11 followed by a Service from 11-12pm at Rochester Cremation, 1118 Long Pond Road, Rochester, NY 14626.  Please send donations in lieu of flowers to The Center for Hope food pantry, 1301 Vintage Lane, Rochester 14626.
