David D. Almeter - Rochester Cremation

Rochester, NY – March 27, 2023 at the age of 72. David is survived by his wife Roberta, daughter Erin, son in law Tom, granddaughters Emily and Lyla and son Kristopher; Sisters Joanne and Diane, along with his very good friends John Pioli and Ron Sokol; as well as many other friends and relatives.

In 1973, David earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from RIT and most notably worked for Kodak for over 20 years. Throughout his life, David never stopped learning, reading and researching on a variety of topics. He was a genuine engineer through and through. May his love for science, mathematics, classical music and poetry continue to inspire us all.

The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff of UR medicine at  Strong Memorial Hospital for their care, compassion and support over these past several difficult months. If anyone so wishes donations can be made in David’s memory to them.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Dave for many years, I am proud to say he is the grandfather of my two little girls. I loved to just sit back and watch as he interacted with them. How he taught and loved them both so dearly. Everyone that knew him has greatly benefitted.

I’ve known Dave since 1989 when we worked at Kodak. Our friendship has grown ever since.
Dave and I would talk for hours about life, family and the world. Dave was a funny guy, he would
make me laugh till I couldn’t breathe. He would help me with work related issues and life events
that at times were difficult for me to work through alone. He was like my second dad.
His voice will always be in my head and I was blessed to known him.
Dave’s soul is now at peace and being well taken care of, this I know.
I will miss you my old friend, more than anyone can know.

I have known David since 1969 when we attended RIT classes together for our electrical engineering degrees. We became very good friends with similar goals in our young years. We both worked at Kodak, and remained very close over the years. David was a true Renaissance man, with love for music, poetry, art, and religion. We shared many interests in science and engineering. David was able to remember experiences and people from 50 years ago, but over recent years his short-term memory suffered. I have lost a very dear friend and he will never be replaced. I am glad to know that he is finally at rest from his long-term health issues.
