Born January 22, 1937 in Johnstown, PA
Age 86
Passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023 in the care of St Johns Home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s & Dementia.
Predeceased by her beloved parents, Carl and Elsie Shoff and three wonderful sisters, Dorothy, Virginia, and Shirley.
She is survived by her two children, Erin (Phil) Conner and Scott (Amy) Edwards, seven grandchildren Kyle, Isaac, Chloe, Devon, Avery, Nicky and Michael, four great grandchildren, Haven, Chase, Lily & Walker, her loyal sidekick Cricket and many loving and loyal extended family and friends.
Janet was a hard-working, fiercely independent woman who raised two children on her own. Her work ethic was second to none and her deep devotion to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was evident in everything she did. After raising her children she was able to travel all over the world, including Hawaii, Italy, France, and Egypt.
Janet loved her hometown of Johnstown PA. She enjoyed showing her grandchildren where she grew up. Rides on the incline plane, a visit to the flood museum, a good jigsaw puzzle and a trip to Coney Island were always on the agenda. Jazzercise was a huge part of Jan’s life, she once won an award for the most classes completed and she more than once put us to shame when we joined her for a class. Always a fan of music, dancing, dining and Chardonnay you could find Jan sharing memorable moments with family and friends. She was a social butterfly who never turned down an invitation to a party. Her sense of humor was strong and her laugh was infectious. She will be greatly missed.
A family memorial and celebration will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to K9 Orphans https://www.k9orphans.org/.
What a beautifully written tribute to a lovely lady. I enjoyed each, and every interaction I had with your mum, Erin and Scott, thank you for sharing her.
I always enjoyed spending time with Jan. She had the best sense of humor and I loved her spunk It was a blessing and an honor to know her.
Jan always told me what’s what. No mincing of words. We loved her energy and her thoughtfulness.
We are better people for knowing her. Truly one of the good ones.
Grammy Jan, you will be missed. Rest in power and peace.
