Brighton:  Passed away peacefully on June 9, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents, Leroy and Elsa of Cleveland, OH.  He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 63 years, Diane; his children, Debbie (Greg), Paula (Chris), Cathy, Mary and Tom (Carla); grandchildren Clara, Connor, Hannah and Cole; and brother, Howard (Eileen).

He was born on March 15, 1929, in Cleveland, OH, graduated from the University of Michigan School of Pharmacy in 1951 and served in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1953.

George took great pride in the role he played in opening the first pharmacy at Wegmans in 1972 and served as the Director of Pharmacy for most of his career.  He was also instrumental in starting Wegmans Employee Assistance Program (EAP), touching many lives during that time.  He loved the theatre and was active in community theatre wherever he lived.  George will be remembered as a compassionate, caring, funny, warm and giving person.

The family wishes to thank the volunteers and staff of The Shepherd Home for the safe and caring environment they provided in George’s final days.

A gathering to Celebrate George’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Rochester Memorial Art Gallery.
