Charlotte, NY: September 17, 2023. Richard grew up in Charlotte and returned there for 37 years to be the third generation at River St. He graduated from CHS and immediately joined the Marine Corp and served at the end of the Korean War.
He is survived by his best buddy, wife Sharon; his loving daughters Kelly Tyra, Danielle (James) Schwab, son John Connolly, and son in law Todd King; stepchildren Walter (Renee) Young, Karen (Thomas) Michels and Joanie Proper (Todd Semolis); cousins Suzanne (Arthur) Pastor and MaryJo (Henry) Leach; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by his parents John (Dorie) Connolly, Daughter Michelle King, two cousins Barbara (Charles) Gerhardt and Timothy Connolly.
Richard loved hunting especially in Colorado and fishing here and in Florida.

Over the last 22yrs, my wife and I have had the pleasure of meeting Richard, and getting to know him a little bit. We are next door neighbors to his daughter, Kelly. The one thing we will always remember was how evident his love was for his daughter Kelly, and granddaughter Jena. It was always very clear that he would have done anything for them. If they needed him, he was there for them no matter what. Such a caring and loving man in their lives – what a blessing. and what a presence. We just know he will be remembered and greatly missed in the hearts of all his family and friends.
