Rochester, NY: Virginia B. Hall, 88, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2023. Virginia is survived by her sons David and Mark (Susan), sister-in-laws Karen (Gary) Hobson and Joan Hall, 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Kenneth Hall, sisters Jean Stevens and Shirley (Don) DeMott.
Virginia was born in Rochester, NY, on March 23, 1935. Virginia worked at Rochester Institute of Technology as an Office Supervisor and retired in 1992. She and her husband spent several years at their cottage on Port Bay, NY, where she enjoyed boating, and spending time with family and friends. She then retired with her husband, Ken, to Calabash, NC, where they spent many hours walking the beach, and enjoying the ocean together, participating in church and community activities, and working together on several shared craft projects. Ginny and Ken relocated back to New York in 2010 to be closer to family and friends. In retirement, Ginny became an avid craftsperson, specializing in uniquely creative handmade stitched greeting cards that were cherished by the loved ones with whom she shared them. Ginny also actively donated her hand made cards to several causes and valued communities with which she participated. Ginny and Ken were active members of the Hamlin Seniors, and Hilton Baptist Church. Ginny relocated to the Village of Towngate (Atria) where she quickly made great friends with the residents and staff while enjoying all of the social activities.
Friends and family describe Ginny as quick-witted and funny, always enjoying a good laugh with friends and family. Ginny was highly adaptable, quickly adjusting to new experiences and always making friends along the way. Ginny remained open to actively challenging her own existing perspectives as she progressed through life, and strived to become very open-minded and accepting of all different perspectives. Ginny was loved deeply, and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone on the staff at the Hildebrandt Hospice Center in Greece, NY. The kindness and care that they showed to Ginny in her final days was so appreciated. We ask that in lieu of flowers, please make your donations to the wonderful people at Hildebrandt Hospice Center.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Hilton Baptist Church, 50 Lake Ave., Hilton, NY, on Saturday, November 11, at 11:00am. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the service.
