We are saddened to announce the passing of Glynis Janine Valenti, 64, of Rochester, New York. Glynis was born on January 13, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio to her parents, William and Orla Ault and passed away peacefully on October 25, 2024 after being reassured by her family that her beloved rescue dog, Olive, was being adopted by a loving family. She is survived by her brother, Darrell Ault, her niece Danielle (Eric) Parham, and nephew, Jason Ault. To know Glynis was to love her. She was a kind, creative, soft spoken soul with a very wide stubborn streak that was always ready and willing to help any person or animal. She was always actively taking in animals that needed a home, as far away as Ohio to New York. Glynis had a talent and professionalism in writing and photography that she shared with the community in The Wedge newspaper and her website and blog, Art Soul Wine. Each year, her friends and family were blessed to receive her photographs in Christmas greetings and they are treasured by all. During her career in New York, Glynis assisted NEAD, the North East Area Development, in developing a friendly, well kept community to be proud of. Glynis was also the executive director of the South Wedge Planning Committee where her passion was to shine light on to the best parts of Rochester and bring people together.
Glynis loved her family and friends immensely. She believed in the power of positive thinking and spreading kindness and love to all those around her. She found beauty in the ordinary and sought to capture those things in her photographs. She loved being by the water, as evidenced by her years spent both in Cannon Beach, Oregon and the Irondequoit Bay in New York. Other than the water, one of her favorite places to be was in the rolling hills of eastern Ohio, near where she grew up surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
My thoughts and Prayers are with you all during this time
I remember her from when she came to Church with her Mom when they came to Bellaire years ago she was always smiling and kind!
She never lost that kindness! Her nurses were always remarking on how she always at least mouthed “thank you” no matter what they were doing, whether poking her again or helping to rearrange her to make her more comfortable!
We’ll miss Glynis here in the South Wedge of Rochester, where she worked so diligently to make this a better place to live. Her kind and creative spirit will not be forgotten.
You will be missed in the Wedge. ❤️❤️❤️

I remember when I was a child, one of my favorite things at Christmas was going to Grandma’s house. My sister and I were always so excited that Glynis would be there, and she would bring her dog Scooter. She was always so fun, and we loved playing with Scooter. Her photography was amazing, and my favorite picture of my father and I, Glynis captured that moment. She was an amazing, talented artist that found beauty in everything. I remember my aunt Rachelle going to New York to see Glynis, and the dress Rachelle was going to wear Glynis picked out, and it was beautiful. I remember every detail of the dress, and when we were kids, it was so exciting to us that Rachelle and Grandma were going to New York to see her. Later down the road, my Aunt Lisa and Glynis planned the most beautiful wedding shower for me. She also took such beautiful pictures at my wedding. My sisters and I always looked up to her and I will never forget her kindness. Glynis has been, and always will be so loved by me and my family. Love you Glynis, Renee
