Rochester NY: April 23, 2016. Thomas is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cheryl Soanes; father, Robert Soanes; children, Matthew (Kate) Soanes, Richard Melvin, Keith Melvin & Amy McDermott; grandchildren,Kerri, Tyler, Kelsey, Jake, Erica & Lena; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roberta (Steave) MacDonald, Patricia (Thomas) Seward & Wendy (Carlos) Contreras; many loving friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Virginia Bates Soanes.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, especially his lifelong “brother”, Dave Lum. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Lipson Cancer Center for their great care of Thomas.

Tom was a wonderful man and friend. I’ve known him since I was about 17 years old and John has known him about 20 years. We will miss him dearly, with all his fun filled times around the fire pit in his driveway with Dave and Kathy. Cheryl take care of yourself and get some needed rest. I am so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing – I worked with him several years ago – he was fun to work with and I loved hanging out with him and all the other guys in the machine shop. RIP Tom – you will be missed.
