Veteran Cremation - Rohester Cremation

Rochester NY:  Age 97, formally of New Hartford, NY passed away peacefully on April 28, 2016.    Gus was born in Syracuse, NY on May 24, 1918 and was pre-deceased by his parents, Theodore and Charity, as well as his brothers and sister-in-laws, Theodore (Esther), Bernard (Eunice), Richard (Edith), and his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Floyd) Montroy.  He is survived by his wife, the former Lydia V. Pilawa, along with many sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Gus was a World War II veteran and served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps earning the rank of Lieutenant.  He flew 35 successful missions and was highly decorated receiving many medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross.  Upon being honorably discharged, Gus attended Syracuse University graduating Cum Laude.  He began his career at General Electric Co. in Syracuse and later accepted a managerial position at GE Utica.  Gus retired from GE after 35 years of service.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Warners, NY.  A private memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016.
