Brown, Alberta Ormsby “Berta”
Hornell, NY: February 20, 2017, at age 82. She was predeceased by her daughter, Debra J. Brown, and her husband, W. Richard Brown. She is survived by her son, Dale R. Brown, three siblings, and many nieces and nephews of the Ormsby family. She was a cherished and gifted elementary school teacher in the Clarence School district for 33 years, helping children to appreciate learning and achievement in a positive, supportive environment, an experience they could build on for the rest of their lives. Beginning in 1969, summertime weekends were spent relaxing at a cottage on Rushford Lake, where friends and family could spend time waterskiing, swimming, sailing, and fishing; or simply sit in a chair and take in the view of the lake. After she retired in 1996, she stayed active socially by playing bridge, became a life master after several years, and enjoyed playing with friends and relatives up until just a few weeks before her death.
