Rochester: January 25, 201 at age 69. William is predeceased by his parents, Helen & Mike Rouse. He is survived by his brother, Gary Rouse; many friends.
Billl played 3 years of minor league baseball and is a member of the Rochester Softball Hall of Fame. He lived life to the fullest and was a good friend.
His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 8th, 11 A.M. at Guardian Angels Church, 2061 E. Henrietta Road. Interment held privately.

I knew your brother and played ball with and against him a long time ago at GeneseeVP and Bayview. He was a friend and a great athlete. May he now find rest and peace
It has been many years since I have seen Billy, but I miss him already. We shared a lot of years together, between Little League in the 19th ward and all those years playing softball together and against each other many times. Our parents were good friends in the 19th ward. Unfortunately I will be away the weekend of Billy’s memorial service. Gary, I hope you read this and will contact me. Sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. I knew him from Kodak, building 205. Used to talk to him often. He had a good sense of humor and used to make me laugh all the time. I’m sure he is in a much better place and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
I was Bill’s “Protege’ ” on the Jerry Earl’s softball team….we,as a team,and with THE MOOSE enjoyed many,many good times and victories during those ealy 70s years!

I have lost someone who was very special to me. Not only in High school, but in years later. We had some great times together & I will always remember the way he smiled. He loved baseball. It was in his blood. My daughters & I went to many of his games. He was a very kind, gentle, giving man.

Gary, I feel blessed to have lived next door to Helen and Billy. Not having family in Rochester originally, they became my family. Helen loved me like a daughter and Billy said I was his sister! I will never forget the time I spent Thanksgiving with you guys and Helen got out the “thrown” picture…we all laughed so hard! I will never forget dancing with Billy at your house! So many great times! Billy & Helen were a perfect example of how to live life to the fullest and would want that for you. I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Bill will be missed by many and I believe now he will know how many friends and admires he really did have. A talented gifted guy well beyond many and saughet after by all. Moose was my roomate through the Genesee Valley hardball years and a guy that was funny, honest, smart and had a sense of humore if you really knew him. Moose as we all would call him was a true caring friend who will be missed dearly and I am so thankful for the friendship he gave me and the many good times we spent together. God bless you Moose I will remember our times together always.

It’s been along time since I’ve seen Billy, but I will always remember the time spent playing baseball in high school & the years after graduation before drifting apart.
Watching Billy come up through my senior year when we just missed the Section V championship, I marveled that with a flick of the wrist he could blow a pitch by a hitter or hit one over the fence, some so far they still may be going.
Years after, Billy, Jim Roundtree (Fella), Don St John (Duck), myself (Goose), played some slow pitch & chase women.
All good times remembered & forever held dear.

Sharon and I send our sincere condolences and prayers to you at this most difficult time. We often would pick up the Moose at your home and take him to our games. He was a solid team mate, a gifted athlete, and a good friend. I spent a lot of time with him when we were on the road playing softball. He had a heart of gold and was one of the kindest most genuine men I have ever met. Sharon and I have happily run into him many times at Top’s and had some great times playing “remember when!” He is in a better place Gary and now pain free. Bless him always!

You spoke from the heart about your love for your brother. I know where you get that from. Billy always spoke from the heart. He would have loved seeing all the guys who he played softball with and against who were at the church to pay their respects. Moose was my team mate on Castle Insurance, Castle-Mazzola, TJ’s and Ronnies. He was a friend to me, my wife and my little girls. They are 38 and 40 now and still have great memories of Billy. He had that affect on you. He’s with Joe Nucci, Pete Castle, Johnny Warren and so many others now. And I’m sure he has already hit one out of the park.

..So sorry to learn of Billy’s early demise. I’ll never forget reading in the D&C of his high school pitching feats in the late ’50s and early ’60s. Not surprised to see that he is, and always will be, an HOFer.
..I was your age, and played on your team (either Cardinals or Suburban Roofing in the RHAA Grasshopper League), before moving to the city and continuing with the Southside Little League, Pony League, and Colt League programs.
