Henrietta: Died Monday May 5, 2014 at age 79 of pancreatic cancer. “Milt” was born on May 21th, 1934 in Ridgway PA. He was Predeceased by his parents Evan L. Pearson and Helen B. Pearson, and his brother Evan Benson Pearson.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Zwald, his son Robert (Susan) of Henrietta, NY; daughters Dora (Don) Loher of Kodak, TN and Nancy (Larry) Atwood of New Port Richey, FL and grandchildren, Hazen, Benson & Roger Pearson; Paul, Kate & Lee Loher & Austin Atwood.
A Ridgway High School Graduate, he entered the United States Navy in 1954 and served as a naval photographer aboard the Aircraft carrier, USS Philippine Sea. After an honorable discharge, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology graduating in 1964 with a BS degree in Imaging Science. He worked briefly for Corning Glass researching photosensitive glass products. In 1965 he joined the RIT Graphics Arts Research Center as a research scientist. Milton was published numerous times in research journal publications in the areas of color gamut reproduction. Until recently, he contributed to research and study by document examiners and government agencies. He received many awards and honors for his contributions to the imaging science industry.
He later became the principal imaging scientist at the RIT Research Corporation. He taught several classes at RIT and served as advisor to numerous students pursuing their master’s degrees. Milt retired from RIT in 1996. Milton became an avid jogger in the 1970’s and logged over 14,000 miles jogging outdoors on the RIT campus. He enjoyed woodworking and photographing nature. He enjoyed traveling as well as being an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Atonement Lutheran Church 1900 Westfall Rd. in Rochester, NY 14618.

Burt taught us all a lot at RIT Research Corporation, and while helping the U.S. Census improve their data capture technology.

Milt died on my 79th birthday. So many fond memories having had the pleasure to work and travel with Milt in behalf of the RIT Research Corporation. He always was one of my very favorite colleagues. Sorry for the belated reply, just received this info today, May 20.
I extend my sincere condolences to the Pearson and the RIT alumni community. I feel a little bit of my self has been lost as Milt was a quiet but key figure as I started my education at RIT in 1963 during some long Rochester winter evenings.
Free knowledge like this doesn’t just help, it promote decarcomy. Thank you.
I hope someday the Friedman hharograpgeis correctly report that Milton Friedman wanted to 1) tax pollution, 2) finance military outlays with a progressive consumption tax; 3) eliminate the home mortgage interest tax deduction, and 4) stay far, far away from a gold standard and 5) told Japan to print a lot of money to solve its lost decade problems. I assure you, no one brings up these thoughts of Friedman today, except for a few Market Monetarists.
Milt Pearson inspired my career after listening to a speech that he gave. I came to visit him at the imaging lab and he introduced me to Burt Saunders. I will be forever grateful for him for paving my interest in color science. He, along with his colleagues at the RIT Imaging Lab, were wonderful & inspiring scientists to so many young people. Rest in Peace Milt.
