Rochester NY:  Entered into Eternal Life March 23, 2016. To those who knew John they will remember his Love for The Lord, his smile, sense of humor and a gentle man with a big heart.  John was predeceased by his parents Michael and Gertrud. He is survived by his sons Evan and Austin, sister Barb Bonisteel, brother in law Tom, nephew and Godson Alec Bonisteel, niece Lisa Koegel (John), nephew Patrick Bonisteel (Travis), great nieces Olivia and Emma, family in Germany, cherished friends Mike and Bev Charvella,  Jersey Girl Myra, adoptive” mom” Shirley Girl, Bill “Cody”, his loving family thru Christ at East Shelby Community Bible Church, and many dear friends new and old.

John loved the outdoors ,camping and living near the water at Sunset Beach. Cooking ,especially for others was his passion. He was proud of his Ukrainian German heritage and his love of food and cooking grew through the traditional family meals celebrated at various holidays. His sons Evan and Austin were his pride and joy and in their younger years John enjoyed being the cub master and scoutmaster for Troop 163 at St. Rita’s Church in Webster, NY. His employment with Rich Truesdale Construction as project coordinator enabled him to work in his favorite place the outdoors.

There will be no prior calling hours. A service will be held 11:00 a.m Saturday April 2, 2016 at John’s home of Worship, East Shelby Community Church,  5278 East Shelby Rd. Medina , NY 14103. A celebration of life will be held on a future date at which family and friends will cook in his honor.

John’s family wishes to express sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, staff on the 5400 unit, MAT unit and MICU at Rochester General Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in John’s memory to the East Shelby Community Bible Church or the Isaiah House, a hospice home located at 71 Prince St. Rochester, NY
