Ada Carteri

Ada Carteri, born on January 3, 1944, in Reggio, Italy, and who made a brave journey to the United States to create a new life, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025. She will be remembered as a dedicated mother and wife, whose commitment to her family was unwavering.

Ada's professional journey began at Hickey Freeman in Rochester, NY, where she worked for many years, contributing her talents and dedication to her job. Her work ethic and determination were hallmarks of her character, reflecting the same strength that guided her through the challenges of immigration and adaptation in a new country.

She leaves behind her beloved son, Egidio Carteri, and cherished sisters, Maria (Pepe) Commisso and Bianca Gutta, who will hold her memory dear. Ada's legacy is also carried by her deceased family members, including her brothers, Luigi Giorgione, Cosmo Giorgione, Pietro Giorgione and Tony Giorgione as well as her sister Franca Sirigu. As well as many nieces and nephews. 

There will be no calling hours or funeral services, honoring Ada’s wishes while allowing her family to remember her in their own private reflections. Ada Carteri was a remarkable woman whose spirit and warmth touched the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed.
