Newark, NY: Ann Chatfield passed away April 2nd at her home. Ann was born in Corning, NY and grew up in Addison, NY. Her parents who predeceased her were E Isabelle (Orr) and Bligh Chatfield. She is survived by a brother, Alfred  (Annabelle) Chatfield of Ft Myers, FL. And nieces Magaly Lucas (New Jersey), Iliana Lang (Germany), and nephew Rolando Lucas (New York).

Ann had three passions. The first, was teaching. She Graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree in secondary social studies. She taught junior high social studies in Newark, NY. for 16 years.

The second passion was counseling therapy. After having obtained a masters in counseling at the University of Rochester, Ann was a school Counselor at Spencerport Junior High School and then Spencerport High School. After retiring she obtained her licensed as a Mental Health Counselor. She maintained a private practice for several years.

Ann’s third passion was spiritual development, both personal and corporate. She was a trained Spiritual Director through the Upper New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church program, Tending the soul. She had several other trainings as well.

Ann belonged to the American Mental Health Counselors Association, the New York Mental Health Counselors Association, and the Mental Health Counselors of Greater Rochester.

Ann belonged to the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church where she held several offices which included lay leader, chair of the counsel on ministries, and staff parish relations committee. She also ran the prayer chain. She was also a Lay Servant.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 AM at Clifton Springs United Methodist Church in Clifton Springs, NY.
