Ackroyd, Barbara Alice
Passed peacefully, at the age of 84, on Wednesday, October 23, with her husband of 62 years, David, by her side.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents Ann and William More and brother, William More. She is survived by her children: Beth (Gary) LaPietra; Ellyn (Joseph) LaPietra; Jeffrey (Lisa) Ackroyd. Grandchildren; Jennifer (Ryan), Gary, David (Payton), Allison (Phill), Emily, Samantha, Olivia, Rebecca, and Rachel. Great Granddaughters Bea, Aela, Capri, and Adella; brothers-in-law Ken and Ted and special sister-in-law Judy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
Barb was the consummate wife, mother, friend, grandmother and great grandmother. She dedicated nearly 40 years of volunteer service to Perinton Ambulance and the SouthEast Quadrant ALS Unit. Barb was a recognized educator throughout the EMS community teaching hundreds of basic and advanced EMS providers.
She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had an infectious smile and an unforgettable laugh. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren who absolutely adored her. She loved the holidays and all the chaos that came with them. Baking, decorating, the Hallmark channel, and cooking the best family dinners – famous for her French silk pies and piping hot mashed potatoes. Her annual summer visits to York Beach, Maine with Dave, have spanned over 50 years and the tradition has been continued with her great grandchildren.
Barb’s Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 9 th , 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Rise United Church of Christ in Fairport New York.
