Barbara Jean Hervey went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 6, 2014 after suffering from stage four cancer. She will be missed for her spunky attitude and always willing to help the less fortunate. She was well known for her cooking and feeding the neighbors. She loved to spend time with family, especially her only grandson. She loved to have cookouts with family and friends and go on family outings. She was a trooper through her pain, and although she will be missed by her family and friends here on earth, we know that she is no longer in pain, and is home with her parents and brother that she had been separated from for so many years. Barb passed on in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family, which is what she wanted.
Barb was Born February 2, 1961 in New Brunswick NJ, to the late Rev. William Hervey and late Bessie Hervey. Later they moved to the Rochester area, where she attended and graduated from Irondequoit High School in 79′. She then joined the Rochester Carpenters Union Local 276, where she worked for many years. A skilled carpenter and handy women. She could fix just about anything. In the late 90′s she moved to Genesee County to raise her children that she was so proud of. As a single mother, she was a hard worker and provided well to her two children.
Along with her parents, Barbara is predeceased by her brother Terrance Hervey and a dear friend Annie Adamski.
Barbara is survived by her two children, William Cassidy and Bianca Hervey; one “future” son in law, Nathan Neuhaus; one grandson, Noah Neuhaus; her siblings, Tom Hervey, Tim (Cyndy) Hervey, Patricia Macking and Kimberly (Gabriel) Rivera; many nieces and nephews, Hannibal, Ryan (Brittany) , Malerie, Samantha, Hannah, Jessica, Jennifer, and Emmanuel. She is also survived by one great nephew, Marshall and many close friends, including James Richardson who cared for Barb through her sickness.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 17th, 4:30 P.M. at the East Pembroke Volunteer Fire Hall located at 2623 West Main Road, East Pembroke NY 14056. The service will be followed by a picnic at the same location.
