Brian Douglas Ives, of Rochester, New York, died on February 4 th . Born in Syracuse, New York on May 19 th , 1938, he is survived by his brother Geoffrey, his daughter Janet, his son Michael, and his granddaughter Megan.
Brian studied business administration at Syracuse University and received his MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. Upon retirement from a career in marketing, sales, and corporate management, he pursued a second graduate degree in computer science from RIT, and served on the faculty of Finger Lakes Community College for several years. After his second retirement, in addition to teaching for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT, Brian devoted much of his time to the pursuit of creative writing, and in 2020, his memoir of his grandparents’ migration to Western Canada, Risking Everything , was published. Brian was a musician, sailor, woodworker, and lover of Victorian literature.
