Carol Ann Turner, age 81, passed suddenly and peacefully on September 15 th , 2024. She was surrounded by family.
She is predeceased by her mother, Ethel Stilwell, her father Lyle Stilwell, and brother Tom Stilwell. She is survived by her loving husband, Walter Turner, her stepson Scott Turner (Paola), son Daniel Turner (Raina Sulzbach), daughters Julie Rich (Alan), Leslie Ameduri (Michael), Tori Daley (Garfield); grandchildren Andrew, Dylan, Averi, Emily, Madeline, Hannah, Nathan, Mckenna, Lucus, Kiley, Vanessa, and Preston; great-grandchildren Athen, Halen, Joshua, and Marley, as well as many close friends and relatives.
Carol was a lifelong resident of the village of Fairport. She and her best friend/husband Walt worked side by side for many years renovating their beautiful historic home from floor to ceiling, and inside and out. They were proudly a part of the Village’s Showcase of Homes in the 90s, where they enjoyed decorating the home for “Christmas in July” to welcome residents for tours.
She had a passion for gardening, antiquing, quilting (by hand), researching family history, cooking, and baking. She was known for her amazing cookies and pies.
She worked as a hairstylist and owned her own salon for over 20 years. In the late 80s she opened an in-home daycare, where she became affectionately known as “Mommy Ner-ner”. They happily cared for many families over the years, often welcoming “the daycare kids” into their home before the sun was up and sometimes hugging them goodnight with hot meals for their parents to take home at the end of a long day. Being able to care for so many children and their families provided her with tremendous joy. She was unable to sit and rest if anyone she knew was hungry, or needed anything, including sound advice.
In lieu of flowers send donations to the Perinton Food Shelf or the UR Medicine Comprehensive Stroke Center. A ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 5 th at 11 am at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd, Pittsford, New York 14534.
