Charles LaRue Fessler, 91, of Covington, PA and Rochester, NY, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester.
He was born August 13, 1929, in Mansfield, PA, the youngest of 6 siblings of Charles Henry and Anna (Patterson). He was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Jane Lucille (Tiffany).
Charles is survived by his son, James Charles (Terrie Pickard) Fessler of Hertford, N.C.; daughter, Patricia Ann Doring of Rochester, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Brian Fessler, Christy Fessler, Elizabeth Herzog, Rebecca Ozarowsky, Suni Pickard and Dylan Pickard; two great-children, Annabelle Ozarowsky and Calvin Fessler.
Charles was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in Germany with an ambulance company of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a proud member of the American Legion and regularly planted flags for veterans at his local cemetery. After returning from his service, Charles began his career as a machinist, working for Ward Manufacturing in Blossburg, PA and eventually for Kodak in Rochester. After his retirement, Charles and Jane moved back to Covington, PA and enjoyed their golden years spending time with friends and family. He always looked forward to long scenic drives, tinkering in his workshop, breakfast at Eddie’s Restaurant and taking any opportunity to share countless stories with friends and neighbors.
