Christopher Sherman

d. May 11, 2023

Honeoye, New York: Christopher Sherman, 2/2/71 – 5/11/23

Chris Sherman was incredibly loved by his family and friends. He passed away peacefully on May 11, 2023 after a stroke.

“Sherm”, “Dude”, or, as his grandmother Joyce Gaydosik referred to him, “My Christopher,” never did anything small. He was “all in” on his many life adventures including sports, travel, love and parenting.

Christopher was born in St. Paul, MN. He lived in Albany in his early years and went to Albany Academy before his family moved to Illinois where he graduated from Barrington High School in 1989.

He graduated from Babson College in 1993 and worked in the mattress business. Living in Denver, CO, he met and married his lover, Kerry Geen, on 8/31/2002 and they have three wonderful boys: Forrist, Charles, and Henry.

He took great pride in his family and their life on Honeoye Lake. Chris coached his boys playing hockey since they were age 3. He loved boating, fishing, golfing and hockey, but most of all he loved watching his boys excel at school, sports, music, and life. He loved grooving at bluegrass festivals and planned to experience this with his family this summer in CO.

Christopher battled significant illness over the past 10 years and demonstrated his love for his family by fighting to regain his health. He was 10 years in remission from leukemia this year, with excellent care from Wilmot Cancer Center and a stem cell donation from Andrew Connor from Germany. Andrew later became an amazing family friend.

Christopher is survived by his adoring wife, Kerry Geen Sherman, his children: Forristal Lee, Charles Robert, and Henry Christopher.

Also survived by his dedicated and loving parents, Christine Sherman and Doug Knop of Algonquin, IL, Robert Sherman and Barbara Bradford of N. Barrington, IL, and grandmother Joyce Gaydosik of Centuria, WI.

Chris is also survived by: brother, Brent Sherman, sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie (Andrew) Murphy, nieces and nephews: Cooper & Madison Sherman, Jackson & Cailyn Murphy, all from Wauconda, IL, mother and father-in-law, Rosemary and Thomas Geen of Rochester, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law: Thomas Jr. (Renee) Geen, Sheila Geen (John) Hohman, Sara Geen (Luke) Banach, and nieces and nephews: Tommy, Hannah, Carly, J.T. and Joseph.

He is also survived by many aunts and uncles and cousins including; Gene Sherman, Beth Foot, Colleen Robinson, Mark Gaydosik, Dawn Dixon and Susan Bradford. Christopher Sherman was predeceased by his grandfather Richard Gaydosik and grandmother Doris Matilda Sherman.

We cannot put into words our thanks for the unconditional love and support of Jason Naylor and family and Holly Brewer and family. We have immense gratitude for acts of kindness that have made such a significant difference in this journey.

Our sincere thanks to the URMC care providers, for the amazing compassion shown to Chris, and to our family, while he was in the Neuro ICU and Hospice units at Strong Memorial Hospital.

A Celebration of Life Open House for Christopher Sherman will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 2-6 PM at Wren’s Roost, 6995 Longsdorf Road, Naples, NY 14512. “Sherman” attire is welcomed.
