Daniel J. Spear

d. February 15, 2021

On Monday, February 15, 2021, Daniel Joseph Spear died in Rochester, NY at the age of 95.

He was preceded in death by his mother Lillian Newman Spear and father Maurice Wolfe Spear; brothers James Dreifus Spear, David Spear (his fraternal twin), and Maurice Spear; son-in-law Ronald DiChario; and grandson Daniel Rivera. He is survived by his three children, Marc (and Terri) Spear, Lori Rivera DiChario, and Barry Spear; their mother Anne Glauber Spear; grandchildren Timothy Spear, David Klos, Melissa Rivera Fanton, Marie Rivera; and his beloved girl, Marla the cat.

Daniel was born on January 31, 1926, minutes before his fraternal twin, David. At his comfortable childhood home in Pittsburgh, PA, he enjoyed playing with his brothers Mauney and David, and looked up to his oldest brother, James. The family moved to Plymouth, OH, then to Cleveland, OH.

He and his brothers all served in the armed forces during the Second World War, where Daniel served in the United States Army. All but his oldest brother, Jimmy, returned home. Dan attended Miami University in Ohio after the war.

He met Anne Glauber Spear in Cleveland, OH where they were introduced by her mother, Rosalind. Daniel and Ann had three children, Marc, Lori, and Barry, whom they raised in Buffalo, NY.

Daniel was in the furniture business for many years. He co- owned and operated furniture store Daniel Warren located on Elmwood Ave & Great Arrow in Buffalo, NY.

Daniel lived a healthy, independent lifestyle and enjoyed regular trips to the library. His sweet smile, silly recitations, serenades, and signature dance, “The Grandpa Shuffle,” will be missed and remembered with all the love in our hearts.
