David G. Genesky

d. February 12, 2024

David left this world for a better place peacefully on February 12, 2024, after a long struggle with lung disease. He was born October 25, 1952 in Batavia, N.Y. to Edward and Florence Dudwick Genesky, and was the youngest of three boys. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, James (Linda) of Columbus, Ohio, and William (Christine) of Geneseo, New York. Also, by niece Ann Fryer and nephew James, Jr.

A 1970 graduate of Batavia High school, he had a great passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing when he could. But in 2000 he found his true calling was to work with birds of prey, at first by educational programs and then trapping and banding research on hawks and owls. His most rewarding time was spent trapping and relocating Snowy Owls from the dangers of Buffalo and Syracuse airports to open farmlands.

His work involved Mancuso Furniture, Westinghouse Electric in Attica, various bartending jobs before settling into a career with the US Postal Service and a few post-retirement years at Hamlin Beach State Park.

His friends were the cream of the crop and included Ron, Dave P, Kenny, Jeff, Max, David M, Tim, and Steve. He is survived by his daughters, Colette of who knows where and Sara Torchia in N. Chili, along with three grandsons.

His favorite music line: “If I never loved, I never would have cried.”

David would be thrilled if you would plant a tree in his memory.
