Dave was born in Queens, NY and grew up in Closter, NJ. He received his bachelor’s degree in physics from Stockton University where he met his wife Rosemary. He completed his graduate work in physics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and moved to Rochester, NY to begin his career at Kodak. He led international teams in the innovation and development of medical imaging technology at Carestream as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Director of Research and Development. Dave’s deep passion for science made him a prolific researcher, scholar, and patent-holder, dedicated to bringing cutting edge medical imaging technology to hospitals around the world. He retired in 2021.
Along with his wife, Rosemary, Dave was a very involved and supportive parent. He never missed a horse show, baseball game, heavy metal show, music lesson, etc. Dave was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed taking on the role of father figure to many of his children’s friends.
Dave’s devotion to the love of his life, Rosemary, was boundless. They first connected over their shared quirky sense of humor, love of the ocean, and passion for music. They enjoyed sharing adventures together, such as travelling, wine tasting, going to concerts, and many outdoor activities. Sharing their love and lives with family and friends was most important.
Family and friends have been reminiscing about “Dave-isms”. He could send a whole room laughing with a simple play on words or witty observation. His ability to find the humor in everyday situations brought joy to the people around him. Along with his humorous outlook on life, Dave was known for his integrity and loyalty. He felt strongly that it was always important to do the right thing, even if it meant putting others’ needs before his own.
Dave was unique in many ways, perhaps best demonstrated by the variety and depth of his interests and passions. He loved outdoor activities, such as biking, kayaking, bird watching, and walking his dog, Theo. He was a voracious reader and found creative writing in the last few years. He was fascinated by meteorology and astronomy. It’s impossible to capture all of Dave’s interests, but his enthusiasm for learning new things was vast.
A devoted father, husband, friend, and so much more, Dave’s impact on many peoples’ lives will be felt in their hearts forever.
A private ceremony and celebration of his life will take place in spring. In remembrance of Dave, donations can be made to the Aurora House Comfort Care Home. His family will be forever grateful for the incredible care he received from the staff at Wilmot Cancer Center and Aurora House.
