Peggy was born in Derrycahill, County , Roscommon, Ireland, on March 4, 1931. Seeking adventure, she came to America at age 18 on a boat, living first in Boston, then settling in Rochester to raise her family.
She loved to dance, especially a waltz. She loved the sunshine, watching the sun set, looking for stars, and taking rides to the lake. Walking was a favorite activity, and she was a familiar figure walking the length of the mall, or the length of the pier. She loved her family and was the matriarch of the family, sharing stories of Ireland and instilling a sense of pride in our Irish Heritage. She had an easy smile and a twinkle in her eye. There was always time for a cup of tea and a little bit of wisdom. There was fun and laughter and lots of hugs. She loved the little ones and had a special bond with them.
We would like to thank her loving caregivers, Ann, Mary, Pam and Pat,and especially Kathy Meagher and Jaimie Helfer for your compassionate care.
