Dorothy A. Hallidy passed away February 12, 2025, in Rochester, New York, after a sudden illness at age 94.
Dorothy, known to many as "Diddy," was born in 1930 in Nutley, New Jersey. After graduating high school in Nutley, she attended Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, Vermont. She was married for 32 years to William Hallidy, raised four children, and moved to the Rochester area in 1966.Dorothy was a breast cancer survivor and worked in real estate and retail in the Rochester area, and Sarasota, Florida, before returning to Rochester in 1998. She loved the beach, traveling, gardening, discussing current events, and reading. And she enjoyed classic movies and classical music. She lived until last year in Webster, eventually moving to memory care at The Lodge at Wolk Manor, at the Jewish Home. The family is grateful to the staff and management at The Lodge for the enormous care and compassion extended during Dorothy’s residency.Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Marie DiPietro, sister Gloria DiPietro-Cooper, and daughter Leslie DiVerdi. She is survived by son David (Stephanie), of Irondequoit; son Todd (Molly) of West Henrietta; daughter Dawn Hallidy-Desse, of le Havre, France; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.A celebration of her life is being planned for the Rochester area, at a date to be determined.
