Edwin Larkin

d. August 27, 2020

Rochester, NY: Ed went home to the Lord surrounded by love on August 27th, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born in Staten Island on July 16th, 1938 to Edwin M. and Catherine E. Larkin, who he was preceded by, and moved to Rochester in 1968 with his former wife Regina, who also preceded him. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School, where he ran track, and graduated from both Fordham University and Georgetown University Law Center, from where he held two degrees. Over his career Ed practiced corporate securities law and was a partner in several Rochester firms along with having his own practice, retiring as a partner from Barclay Damon, LLP in 2017. In 2014, he was honored by the Monroe County Bar Association for Fifty Years in the Practice of Law. Ed’s passions in life were his family, reading, history, practicing law, golf, being a lifelong New York Giants fan, and collecting golf balls from courses around the world. As a member of Oak Hill Country Club for 39 years, Ed had a hole in one, served on many committees, including the Board of Governors, and was a long time Mashie. In addition to his many rounds of golf at Oak Hill, he played there at least once a month for 20 years, notably the Rochester winter months for which he was lovingly teased by many.

Ed is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 22 years Lisa, their daughter Lauren, with whom he shared a special bond, his loving sons Edwin III (Jennifer) and Kevin (Karen), and grandsons Patrick and Brady; two sisters, Mary Alice (Arthur) Simonson of The Villages, FL, Elizabeth (Gregory) Cavallo of Mt. Pleasant, SC; brother Joseph (Lorraine) Larkin of Freehold, NJ; his aunt Catherine (Cats) Nichols of Queensbury, NY. He was also survived by several cousins along with numerous nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Ed will be remembered for his faith, intelligence, integrity, strong will, and his sense of humor, which he showed even in his last days.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Thomas More Church on Thursday, September 10th at 11:00 a.m. at 2617 East Ave., Rochester, N.Y. 14610 followed by a private interment at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA.org), UR Medicine Hospice Care (urmhomecare.org), or your favorite charity, each in Ed’s memory.

Special thanks to Dr. Clark and Dr. Tomcik of U of R Memory Care, the whole team at UR Medicine Hospice, ComForCare, especially Vikki, and his sister-in-law Laura, who all took exceptional care of Ed during his illness and in his final days.
