Elizabeth Rodrigues-Salem, affectionately known as Liz, gracefully entered the gates of heaven on September 15th, 2024. Liz was born on May 20, 1938, in Rochester, NY, where she spent her entire life. Elizabeth was survived by her loving husband George Salem Sr. which she married in 1959 and also survived by her brother Joseph (Betty) Rodrigues. A devoted mother, wife, sister and grandmother, Liz raised her three children, Elizabeth(Michael) Gouveia, George Salem Jr. , and Barbara(Kenneth) Pitts, instilling in them the values of love and kindness. She was also a proud grandmother to Kenny, Joey(Kerrie), Danielle(Ebon Sr.), Mikey, Chris, Blaise, Allie, and Dominique(Daniel), and a loving great-grandmother to Valentino, Ebon Jr., Giselle, Jayde, Savannah, Ella & Bailey.
Liz had a remarkable career at Rochester Telephone, and also worked passionately alongside individuals with disabilities and mental illnesses, making a positive impact in her community. Known for her strong, caring, and fun personality, she was always ready to lend a helping hand to her neighbors and friends.
In her leisure time, Liz enjoyed playing bingo, visiting the casino, and sharing meals of fish fry’s paired with an ice-cold beer. Her favorite saying, “Whatever your little heart desires,” reflects her nurturing spirit and encouragement to those around her.
Liz will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who remember her for her unwavering love and support. Liz’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
