Stanley NY: August 6, 2015 at age 92, after a brief illness. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, a donation in Elizabeth’s name may be made to Syracuse PBS radio/TV station WCNY, (315-453-2424) or to a charity of one’s choice.
A Private Memorial for the family will be held at a later date.
A native of Buffalo, Elizabeth moved to the Geneva area in 1947 where she and her husband, Elmer, built their own house. Elizabeth was a full-time homemaker and very proud to raise a family of six children. In 1976, when their children were mostly grown, Elizabeth and Elmer opened an auto repair business, Seneca Castle Auto. Elizabeth worked in the business for 34 years, where she greatly enjoyed talking with customers. She retired from the business in 2010 at the age of 87. Her family was the most important
thing in her life. She also had a lifelong passion for classical music, books and art.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elmer. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara of Boston, MA, Elizabeth (Larry Raynor) of Laurens, SC, and Anne (Zekai) Akbay of Newport Coast, CA; sons, John (Jill McLellan) and Bob of Stanley, and Bill of Schenectady; three grandchildren, Molly (David) Tornow-Coffee, Brett McLellan Tornow and Aaron Tornow; two great-grandchildren, Vaughan McLellan Tornow-Coffee and Violet McLellan Tornow-Coffee; and two sisters, Marian Steward of Grafton, WI, and Dorothy Snoke of New York, NY.
