Eugenia “Gina” Riccio Allen, beloved wife of the late Robert E. Allen Sr. passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 12th at the age of 96. Born at home in East Rochester, NY, Gina was the youngest daughter of the late Paul and Julia Riccio. Throughout her life she had a loving and close relationship with her late siblings; Mary Riccio Scalise, Vincent Riccio, and Rose Riccio Welch.
She is survived by sons Robert E. (Rachelle) Allen Jr. of East Rochester, Richard (Jeanne) Allen of Irondequoit, and daughter Julie (Richard) Essom of East Rochester. Grandchildren; Robert J. Allen, Meghan Allen, Trevor Allen, David Mayer, Jason Allen, James Allen, Caitlin Allen VanGorder, Christina Essom Cleaves and Richard Essom, 10 great grandchildren, beloved niece Joan Scalise Fagan, life long friend Lucy Ferrari, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Gina’s focus was always on her family. She and her husband were known for their annual Fourth of July parties throughout the Seventies, Eighties and Nineties at their home in Pittsford. There was always coffee, food or sweets ready for whomever walked through the door.
A Memorial Mass will be held on October 21, 2024 at Saint Jerome’s Church in East Rochester, NY at 10:30.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gina’s memory to St. Jerome’s Church, 207 Garfield Street, East Rochester, New York 14445.
