Gary Lee Stowell, age 73, passed away peacefully June 9, 2020 at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, New York. He was born September 12, 1946, in Star Lake, New York to Melvin and Ruth Stowell. He graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School, Star Lake, New York and went on to join the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 16 years. Gary was married twice and had 2 daughters, Kelly and Julie.
After his military service, Gary was employed as a Land Surveyor at various locations. He had a passion for unique rocks. He pursued the discovery of rare stone varieties in many rock quarries, with the goal of having his own rock business in the Hammond area, but this never came to pass.
He loved to fish, listen to classical music and entertain people with his humor. He was a great piano player and enjoyed cards and chess.
Gary is survived by 3 sisters: Sharon Isereau of Tomball, Texas, Beth Stowell of Orlando, Florida and Marcy Blackmer of Cranberry Lake, NY; another sister, Laurie Gruen, passed away September 2019. Both parents predeceased him.
Family & Friends are invited to attend a burial service on August 19, 2020 in Fine, New York at the Woodlawn Cemetery, 1:00pm. Gary will be laid to rest beside his parents and sister.
