Gary Donald Palleschi

November 15, 1936 — March 14, 2025

Pittsford, NY

Gary Donald Palleschi, Pittsford, NY
Gary was born at home, November 15, 1936, and died at home March 14, 2025. Gary grew up and was educated in Rochester, graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1955, as VP of his class. It was during those years he met his future wife, Maura, on a double date, each with a different date but with eyes for each other.

After graduation, Gary worked at Lincoln First Bank for 1 year and then enrolled at Saint John Fisher College, graduating in 1960, later furthering his studies at the University of Rochester. In 1961, he and Maura were married at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Rochester. At the same time he joined the National Guard and then Army Reserves from which he was later honorably discharged. Gary went on to a 30 year career in teaching at East High School, first in Spanish, and later American history, raising a family in Fairport and retiring from East High in 1991.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Carmine, Sr., and Ida D'Antonis Palleschi; brother, Carmine, Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene & Richard Keily; granddaughter, Elena Palleschi.

Survived by his loving family: wife, Maura Murphy Palleschi; daughters, Lynne Palleschi and Kristin Hanvey; sons, Timothy (Marcelo), Douglas, Patrick (Katrina); son-in-law, William Hanvey. Also survived by grandchildren, Katie (Robert) Barrett and Liam Hanvey; Conor, Gavin & Mateo Palleschi; great granddaughter, Maura Barrett; nephew, Jeff Keily; niece, Kathie (Jay) Baug and their daughters, Madison and KatieRose. Also survived by many other extended family and dear friends.

The family would like to extend special gratitude to Gary’s doctors, most especially his Primary Care physician, Dr Louis Papa, MD & Cardiologist, Dr Vijay Krishnamoorthy, MD, for their extraordinary attention and care.

Gary enjoyed his many years in retirement, traveling to various places and spending time with Maura and family and friends on Hilton Head Island. He was an avid bridge and euchre player and (always a Weber) grill master. He enjoyed games of golf and following Tom Brady on whichever team he was traded to. He was a respected teacher at East High School who occasionally butted heads with administrators, parents and students when discipline wasn't enforced. Many students would come back years after graduation to thank him for taking a hard line.

At Gary's request there will be no viewing or calling hours. Family and friends are invited to join in a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be offered on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 11am, at the Church of the Transfiguration, 50 W Bloomfield Rd, Pittsford, NY, 14534, with a reception to follow in the church hall.

Friends wishing may contribute to McQuaid Jesuit High School https://mcquaid.org/support-mcq/make-a-gift/ or to Our Lady of Mercy High School https://www.mercyhs.com/give/ in his memory, or to a favorite charity.
