It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald C. Rhodes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on March 17, 2025, at the age of 64. Gerald was born on November 29, 1960, in Gloversville, New York, to his loving parents, Elaine Wilder and Gerald VanNostrand. He is now reunited in peace with his mother Elaine and his sister Donna, who preceded him in death.
Gerald spent his formative years in the charming town of Gloversville before eventually making his home in Rochester, NY. He devoted 25 years of his life to his career at Frank’s Auto Care, where his hardworking nature and commitment to excellence shone brightly. His colleagues admired him for his work ethic and his kind, approachable demeanor, which made him a favorite among customers and co-workers alike.
A man of many interests, Gerald found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about fishing and loved spending long, relaxing days at the beach with a cold beverage in hand. In his spare time, he enjoyed building model cars, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and attention to detail. His love for music was evident, as he was often found listening to live music or his collection of tunes . The man with the outgoing personality brought joy and laughter to gatherings, earning him the title of "life of the party."
Gerald’s warmth and friendliness extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a loving husband to Marie Rhodes (Mack), with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Gerald was a devoted father to his three daughters, Sativa (Robert) Costello, Denise (Shawn) Milazzo, and Danielle (Cody) Anderson. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren: Sanya, Robert Jr., Hailey, Brayden, Mason, and the newest addition, Baby Anderson. Each of them brought a sparkle to his eye and warmth to his heart.
Gerald is also survived by his father Gerald, many siblings, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will remember him for his honesty, sense of humor, and the ability to make everyone feel special. He had a remarkable gift of connection, and his friendly, outgoing nature made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Gerald's memory and celebrate the remarkable life he lived. While his physical presence will be missed, his legacy will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
As we say goodbye to Gerald C. Rhodes, we remember a man whose life was a testament to goodwill and happiness. He will continue to live on in the stories we share, the music we listen to, and the love that binds us all together. Rest in peace, Gerald; you will be deeply missed but never forgotten
