James H. Musler, (Jim) born December 15, 1943, passed away in Rochester NY on September 15, 2024, at 80 years of age.
Jim’s father was Louis Musler, his mother, Eleanor Wasserman and his stepfather, Milton Wasserman.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Louise, as well as his son Graham, his daughter and son in law, Brittany and Geoffrey Hinman, and his grandchildren, Piper and Fox.
For most of his career Jim acted as a sales representative in the clothing and gift industries. His unique eye for fashion and design gained him popularity among his clients. After retiring, Jim asserted
his outgoing personality through part-time work, becoming known as an affable food cart vendor. His regular set up was at the Powder Mills Park office complex, and on the weekends, he catered countless private parties and celebrations. He also enjoyed his years as a bus driver for the Pittsford Central School District and Children’s Institute, where the children enjoyed his light-hearted demeanor.
Jim’s commitment to volunteering started in the turbulent 60s when he supported voter registration efforts and later, engaged in anti-Vietnam War efforts in Utica, New York. Locally, he volunteered for
Planned Parenthood and Pittsford Ambulance Services.
Physically active, Jim embraced running for several years, completing the New York marathon in 1987. Racquet sports became a central interest with tennis a focus for thirty years to be overtaken by
pickleball that he played avidly as often as he could.
Jim’s open, communicative style led to many friendships, and for those who knew him best, he was recognized as a raconteur, relating past incidents that revealed his take on the human condition and
his delight in social commentary. His laugh was warm and contagious. On the home front, Jim exercised his artistic side. He spent many hours searching for unique, well-made items as well as creating his own designs to enhance the family’s living space. Pottery, wood working, sculpture, home decorating, and fashion claimed his interests.
A special gathering is planned on September 29 from 11:00 A.M.–2:00 P.M. at the Fairport Pickleball Clubroom, 75 North Main Street, Fairport, for friends and colleagues who wish to honor him.
