Jane C. Rieben, 82, of Whitesboro, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital Palliative Care in Rochester, NY. She was born on February 28,1939 in Oneida, NY to Omar and Mary (Berger) Haynes . She was a graduate of Westmoreland High School. On July 16,1966 she was united in marriage to Daniel S. Rieben.
Jane worked at Utica Fire as a secretary before devoting her life as a caregiver and stay at home Mom for her family. She was a caregiver for her mother Mary Haynes, who lived with her family for many years. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Daniel S. Rieben. They raised two children, Pamela and Daniel.
Jane had a passion for baking, she especially enjoyed making pies. She loved spending time at their family camp in Otter Lake, where she was always planning the next meal for her family and friends. She shared her joy of baking with her family at many gatherings. Her love of family, friends, food and joy for life made her a person who everyone loved.
She is survived by her loving children; Pamela (Brian) Facklam of Fairport, NY and Daniel (Ann) Rieben of New Hartford, NY, her sister Theresa Shortell of Shodack , NY, sister Pauline Kraeger of Clark Mills, NY, grandchildren, Eva, Ivy, Brendan and Liam; many loving in-laws; several nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her father, (Omar), her mother (Mary), and Carolyn Tessien (sister).
The family would like to thank Palliative Care at Strong Memorial Hospital for all the love and kindness they have shown for Jane and continue to provide for all the patients in their care. We are especially thankful to Dr. Robert Holloway and Dr. Daniel King for their guidance and love during our time of need.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Snows in Otter Lake, NY. Contributions in Jane’s memory can be made to URMC Palliative Care
