Huntington Beach, CA: Formerly of Rome, NY passed away peacefully on October 12, 2016. John was born the eldest son of Rocco and Carmella (Gaetano) Falitico of Rome, NY. John is survived by his brother, Rocco (Monica) Falitico, nephew, Paul (Shelley) Falitico; nieces, Roxanne (CJ) Cronk, Christine (Eric) Hoenig, Angela (Harry) Agens, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, and Virgina Merola, whom he considered a sister. John was predeceased by his sister, Judith (Falitico) Bonavita, brother-in-law, Thomas Bonavita, Sr., and nephew, Thomas Bonavita, Jr.
John proudly served his country in two branches of service during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in the Air Force and upon an honorable discharge he re-enlisted. He served as a 2 nd Lieutenant in the US Army, a Unit Commander in the Field Artillery Branch. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star and United Nations Service Ribbon.
John graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. He was an active member of the California Society Certified Public Accountants, California Community Colleges, and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He also was a member of the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers. John was the comptroller for JP Getty Oil before establishing his own CPA Firm in Southern California. John enjoyed deep sea fishing, LA Laker games, Santa Anna racing and the outdoors in sunny California. John was a deeply spiritual man who lived his Catholic faith. His love and generosity towards his family and church was consistent throughout his life.
Family and Friends are invited to a Christian Mass on 10/22/16 at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church in Rome, New York.
