Rochester NY: Passed away recently at his home in Rochester, NY at age 51. He was born and raised in Sarasota, FL, and graduated from Riverview High School and the University of Maryland. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Judson Norris Hancock, Jr. and Gertrude Ann Hancock Virden, and his grandparents, Jennie and Dowie Cutshall and Harold Dickson.
He is survived by his husband of 12 years, Anthony Vallone, his sister Robin Hancock Mabrey, his brothers David and Bill Hancock, and his grandmother ‘Granny’ Jonnye Dickson. He also leaves his nieces and nephews Richard, Judson, Heather, Audrey, Malachi, Malik, Armando and Lilyana, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his Vallone family in-laws and relatives, including Michael, Mary, Russ Jr, and their parents, Charlene and Russell Sr.
Simon also leaves behind countless friends and co-workers whose lives he has enriched through his talent, humor, generosity and lust for life. He was a successful software engineer, performer, comedian and artist who was dedicated to numerous philanthropic causes, including the Van Wezel Foundation, Nourishing New York, Sarasota Christian School. One of Simon’s great passions was his participation with the Chiller Theatre Convention, where he will be sorely missed.
Memorial services in celebration of Simon’s life will be held at Simon and Anthony’s home on Tuesday 8/30 from 7-9pm , and in Sarasota, FL and Parsippany, NJ at a later date.
