Julie G. Schroder of Henrietta, New York passed away on April 22, 2020, after a prolonged battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ronald Schroder; five children, Dave Schroder, Elizabeth (Fred) Stumpf, Julia (Kevin) Frederes, Karen (Alex) Hammel, and Kevin (Kristen) Schroder; and nine grandchildren, John, Isa, Ella, and Ben Stumpf, Colin and Connor Frederes, Ambrose Hammel, Danyka Wambold, and Seth Schroder.
Julie was raised in Brightwaters, NY, the eldest of seven. Higher education brought her upstate to Nazareth College, where she would earn a nursing degree and begin her career as a public health nurse. Though she would eventually leave the workforce to raise her five children, she never lost her passion for the medical field or learning in general.
She was a woman of many interests, capable of countless pursuits – truths not lost by anyone she regularly supported or lent a hand. Upon sending her final children off to college, Julie joined the Rush-Henrietta High School Counseling Center as an administrative assistant. In her ten-year run with the Center she created and oversaw a high school newsletter and helped guide numerous students with their post high school plans.
An avid quilter, she quickly progressed to master the craft. Her joy in discovering a new pattern only outmatched by the jubilant spirit displayed when she gifted her latest creation.
To have known Julie was to have known a woman of unparalleled kindness, a humble nature that belied an indelible greatness. To know Julie was also to know all about John, Isa, Ella, Ben, Colin, Connor, Ambrose, Danyka, and Seth. She was, at her core, a proud Grandma. Throughout her life, family and friends were paramount. Fortunately, Julie was blessed with a bounty of both. More fortunate still were those blessed to call her same. She will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at a date to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Lymphedema Network ( www.lymphnet.org ), Henrietta Quilt Club (c/o Janey Miller, 56 Chesapeake Landing, West Henrietta, NY 14586), or Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center ( www.lifetimecare.org ).
